Using places in my life as a motif, I create layered artworks with collage, paint, printmaking, and drawing that reference the complexity and influence of location.  I am interested in the idea that we are an accumulation of our past.  All of the experiences we have had in specific homes, schools, cities, and other locations uniquely merge together to influence the way we currently view and engage in life.

I produced my most recent body of work with a very straight-forward strategy: cutting out shapes from significant places in my life, assembling them together, and then responding to the resulting image.  In this process, lines and marks become my own personal routes, connecting me again and again with specific geographic areas.  This exploration sometimes signifies literal paths of travel, and, at other times, charts the virtual or emotional connection of my thoughts.
