INTEGRATION
Most of this series was done for my BFA final show in 2000, with a few completed in 2002 for another exhibit. Each painting began with two types of imagery--patterns and tool drawings. Patterns, by their continuous nature, represent a general, universal form while tools are very specific and often are not serviceable for anything other than their original function. Through the process of painting and layering these forms with each other, I wanted to explore the ways in which a very specific item and a more general one can fit together. Each painting is oil on panel, framed with poplar.
